Encountering Christ, Serving Others

As the Pastor of St. John Neumann Parish here in Strongsville, I want to thank you for seeking us out. As you browse through our site, you will see that it is our mission to ultimately challenge ourselves to, “Encounter Christ while serving others.”

While we celebrate the gift of our Lord’s body, blood, soul and divinity daily at Holy Mass, you will notice that we also offer various other ministries, both spiritual and relational, which seek to foster and deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ.

We certainly are in challenging times. Now more than ever we need to practice our Catholic faith in a lively and meaningful way. Hopefully after perusing our website you will feel encouraged to join us at a weekend Mass.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Blessings!

Fr. Barry Gearing
Pastor

God sees every one of us,
He creates every soul . . .
FOR A PURPOSE.
He needs, He deigns to need, every one of us.
He has an end for each of us.
We are all equal in His sight and we are placed
in our different ranks and stations,
not to get what we can out of them for ourselves
but to labor in them for Him.
As Christ has His work, we too have ours –
as He rejoiced to do His work,
we must rejoice in ours also.”

– ST. JOHN NEUMANN

Should you go to Mass in a pandemic? 5 rules for discerning a hard question.
1. If you are in a good spiritual place and the desire is peaceful, go for it.
2. If you are in a not-so-good spiritual place and your conscience is pricking you, Mass might help.
3. If the idea struck you out of the blue, it might be from God.
4. Are you practicing patience and taking precautions? Or making excuses?
5. Is your fervor self-motivated?

Eucharist

Eucharist

In the celebration of the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Come and be nourished.

Community

Community

Our community unites us and gives us opportunities to connect with others. As we serve one another, we come to know we are a part of something greater than ourselves.

Prayer

Prayer

Praying is a way for us to communicate with God. He asks us to pray without ceasing in all things we do, in every moment of our lives. Talk to God through prayer.
